SUBSTANCE: in the method, a means of protection is formed on an article with possibility of checking its presence or authenticity; parameters of information features is detected in response to external action with comparison of the detected features with standard features. The physical inspection method used is Raman spectroscopy; the means of protection - label - is the article itself, packaging or an area on the article or its packaging, on which chemical substances, whose chemical composition varies over time, are deposited or incorporated. During inspection, Raman spectra and fluorescence spectra of molecules of the chemical substances are picked up when said spectra are excited in the label by the monochromatic source of a Raman spectrometer. Alteration or replacement of the protected article is indicated by change in composition and concentration of the substances.

EFFECT: reduced cost of making labels while ensuring high degree of security.
