FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: multi-basin furnace includes basins with ridgelike bottom, which are separated with longitudinal walls carrying arch abutments and abutments of gas spaces. Bottom of each basin is formed with convex surfaces of cylindrical arches in-series connected by means of wings and located parallel to longitudinal axis of furnace between its end walls. Connection lines of wings of pairs of arches form cavities of bottom of basins, wings form slopes of bottom and ridges of arches serve as supports of longitudinal walls separating melting chambers and supporting the arches of gas space. It is possible to make multi-basin furnace with bottom from molten heavy metal with height equal to 1/2-1/3 of arch height.
EFFECT: improving the quality of melt due to separation of gas space of furnace; simplifying steel structures; increasing furnace efficiency.
