FIELD: glass industry; designs of glass-making units for making glasses with high content of lead including production of melt of lead silicate. SUBSTANCE: furnace has glass-melting tank with bottom of molten metal. Located along walls of glass-melting tank are chambers communicated with glass-melting tank by means of flow-channels. Chambers have no contact with glass melt. Furnace glass-melting tank is separated by cooled partition into two parts. Each part of glass-melting tank is enclosed in isolated underpans. Chambers have current leads. Molten metal is used in the form of lead. Current leads are immersed into lead. Height of underpan walls is higher than that of lead level. Current lead material is used in the form of iron. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 2 cl, 1 dwg
