SUBSTANCE: backlight device (20) has hot-cathode fluorescent lamps (23) where connector parts (23a) having two terminals (23b) are provided at the both ends, a chassis (21) on the back surface side of the hot-cathode fluorescent lamps, and fluorescent lamp sockets (24) which fix the hot-cathode fluorescent lamps to the chassis. At each fluorescent lamp socket, an insertion part (24c) for inserting a terminal of a hot-cathode fluorescent lamp is formed. The insertion part is formed so that the direction of removing the hot-cathode fluorescent lamp from the socket faces an upper side relative the horizontal direction when the chassis is placed vertically.
EFFECT: providing a backlight device, a display device and a television receiver which can prevent the light source from falling off the connector part.
