FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: illumination device has an illumination unit (12) and according to the present invention, has a hot-cathode lamp (17), a chassis (14), a diffuser plate (30) and a lamp clamp (20). The hot-cathode lamp (17) is a linearly shaped light source. The chassis (14) holds the hot-cathode lamp (17) and has an opening (14b) so that light passes through it from the light source. The diffuser plate (30) is an optical element (15) which lies such that it faces the hot-cathode lamp (17) and cover the opening (14b). The lamp clamp (20) is an element for holding the light source which holds the luminous part of the hot-cathode lamp (17). The area of the diffuser plate (30), which covers the lamp clamp (20) (area for covering the light source holding element) includes an area of low light reflecting capacity, having a relative light reflecting capacity at least on a first surface facing the hot-cathode lamp (17) less than for the peripheral area.
EFFECT: reduced non-uniform brightness.
