FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to foamed materials. Described is a catalyst for producing phenol-formaldehyde foam plastic, containing a product of condensation of sulphophenyl urea with formaldehyde and orthophosphoric acid, organic or inorganic sulphonic acid and a surfactant which is OP-7 or OP-10, with the following ratio of components (pts.wt): product of condensation of sulphophenyl urea with formaldehyde and orthophosphoric acid 33-35; organic or inorganic sulphonic acid 45-52; OP-7 or OP-10 15-20. Described is a composition for producing phenol-formaldehyde foam plastic, consisting of said catalyst, mixture of resol or novolac-type phenol resins, petroleum ether, aluminium powder, furfuryl alcohol and a chlorine-containing phosphate selected from: trichloride phosphate, trichloroethylphosphate, trichlorophophate, with the following ratio of components (pts.wt): catalyst 10.0-15.0; resol-type phenol resin 60-70; novalac-type phenol resin 30-40; petroleum ether 1.0-5.0; aluminium powder 0.022-0.05; said chlorine-containing phosphates 0.5-2.0; furfurly alcohol 1.0-2.0.

EFFECT: improved processing and operational characteristics of the obtained phenol-formaldehyde foam plastic: shorter time onset of foaming, faster foam rising, faster foam hardening, low apparent density and water-absorption of the obtained foam plastic with improved strength properties.
