SUBSTANCE: input device has: a base with an input area; one or more touch-sensitive sections on the input area for detecting touching of the input zone or contact movement thereon; a control unit for retrieving data corresponding to any input operation from memory and inputting the retrieved data depending on the position or direction of movement of the contact spot detected by the touch-sensitive section relative a reference section lying on the input area.
EFFECT: possibility of accommodating the entire desired set of input symbols on a minimum area, which is needed for miniaturisation purposes, and which also allows input of each of said symbols with a single manoeuvre.
