SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to techniques for handling touch screen input. Disclosed is a method for processing contactless input for touch screens. Method involves a step of displaying plural discrete items on a touch screen in a normal mode. In response to detecting when in the normal mode a user's digit at a location hovering over but not touching the touch screen while plural discrete items are being displayed in the normal mode, a zoom-pan mode is entered. Also in response to entering the zoom-pan mode, the displayed plural discrete items are zoomed.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of user input on the touch screen.
