SUBSTANCE: method for operating a receiver in a wireless communication system comprises steps of receiving a frame including a plurality of time slots. Each time slot of the plurality of time slots comprising two half-slots, each half-slot comprising two traffic segments and a pilot burst between the two traffic segments. The plurality of time slots comprises a first half-slot and a second half-slot, the first half-slot comprising a first pilot burst and a first traffic segment, the second half-slot comprising a second traffic segment and a second pilot burst. The first and second traffic segments are divided into a plurality of sub-segments, the plurality of sub-segments comprising a first sub-segment and a second sub-segment following the first sub-segment; an equaliser of the receiver is trained on the first pilot burst to obtain a first plurality of trained tap coefficients; the equaliser of the receiver is trained on the second pilot burst to obtain a second plurality of trained tap coefficients, interpolating between the first and the second pluralities of trained tap coefficients to obtain a first set of interpolated tap coefficients for the first sub-segment and equalising the first sub-segment by using the first set of interpolated tap coefficients.
