SUBSTANCE: invention is intended to expand the range of products by thickness and width of slabs produced by reverse rolling from ingots used also for blooms. A bar (rolled stock) are submitted flat to rolls, for example, a narrow bottom part forward and pressed along the entire length. Reduced probability of formation of tightening on narrow faces of the bottom part of rolled stock, possibility of producing rolled stock of a specified width and reduced amount of end crops are ensured by the fact that during a reverse course unfinished sections are left by the length of the narrowed part of the bar from the bottom end, which is pressed during the next reverse course after a previous idle course, while the value of a one-time pressing of the unfinished section is equal to a total of onetime pressings of the rest of the rolled stock and widening is greater respectively.

EFFECT: expansion of the range of thickness and width of slabs.
