FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to information measuring equipment and can be used to convert duration of short single pulses into a digital code in a wide time range with nano- and subnanosecond conversion sampling rate. The invention is aimed at increasing operating speed and reducing conversion dead time, which is ensured due to that, in the recirculating time-to-number converter with a chronotron interpolator, conversion is first carried "coarsely" using a counting-pulse method with sampling rate not greater than the recirculation period Tr of the time recirculator, and then "accurately" with sampling rate of up to a small fraction of Tr using the chronotron interpolator, made using a delayed coincidence method.
EFFECT: faster operation and reduced conversion dead time.
