FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for functional inspection of information system protocols. A physical segment of the tested network and a plurality of sequences of parameters of the packet header field of the tested protocol are constructed based on a full enumeration method; from the obtained sequences, test packets are constructed, test units consisting of a set of test and diagnostic packets are generated, after which the test units are sent with given intensity, dimensions and structure, wherein a diagnostic packet ends each unit of test packets; reaction of the system to units of test packets is analysed using given rules, as a result of which a critical sequence storage is formed, based on which filter rules are set by extracting corresponding signatures from the critical sequence storage and introducing them into information security software environments.
