SUBSTANCE: invention relates to land radio systems and specifically to apparatus facilitating communication between different land mobile radio systems. The method involves receiving LMR content to be converted from a first vocoder type to a second vocoder type; digital conversion of the LMR content from the first vocoder type directly to the second vocoder type via direct placement of a plurality of voice vectors from the first vocoder type to the second vocoder type while excluding de-vocoding; buffering and synchronising LMR content contained in the plurality of voice packets to ensure constant flow or said LMR content which was converted; and determining delay or loss of said LMR content, and re-equalising the LMR content to compensate for said delayed or lost LMR content.
