SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication systems. The paging control can comprise paging periods of a wireless signal determined from a formula based on an integer raised to a function of constant power (e.g. 2K or 2 (K-L)) where K and/or L are constant. Selected paging periods can be located within a wireless signal or distributed throughout a subset of time frames of the signal. Paging roups can be assigned to each of the paging periods by employing distinct identifiers of mobile device assigned to each paging period.

EFFECT: provision of mobile devices with an ability to identify and receive incoming signals while saving processing power and prolonging battery life time.
