FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of producing organoboron compounds and specifically to a method of producing 9-halogen derivatives of o-carborane. The method involves reaction of o-carborane with halogenating agents in the medium of an acidic organic solvent followed by extraction of the end product. The acidic organic solvent used is linear monobasic organic acids: formic, acetic and propionic acid. The halogenating agents used are N-haloimides: N-halosuccinimides, 1,3-dihalo-5,5-dimethyl hydantoins, trihaloisocyanuric acids, N-haloarylsulphonamides and sodium salts thereof, N-halophthalimides, where the halogen is Cl, Br, I; aryl is phenyl, tolyl. The process is carried out at boiling point of the acidic organic solvent for 4-8 hours.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain 9-halogen derivatives of o-carborane with high output.
