SUBSTANCE: invention (10) comprises a top substrate (first substrate) (2), a bottom substrate (second substrate) (3) and conducting liquid (16), which is sealed up in the display space (S) formed between the top substrate (2) and the bottom substrate (3) so as to move towards the effective display region (P1) or ineffective display region (P2). In the display (10), the signal electrode (4), reference electrode (5) and scanning electrode (6) are configured such that voltage in a predetermined range of voltage can be independently applied across corresponding electrodes. Identical voltages (third voltage and fourth voltage) are applied across the reference electrode (5) and the scanning electrode (6) which are provided on the bottom substrate (3) so that they lie on the side of the effective display region (P1) and the side of the ineffective display region (P2), respectively.
EFFECT: improved device.
