SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing alkylene glycol from alkylene carbonate, involving hydrolysation of alkylene carbonate in the presence of a catalyst in a partitioned reactor, in which the partitioned reactor has at least four compartments, wherein the compartments are formed next to alternating first inner partition walls, having a first configuration, and second inner partition walls, having a second configuration different from the first configuration, and outer partition walls ensure a meandering path for the reaction liquid through the reactor.
EFFECT: method enables to maximise conversion of alkylene carbonate to alkylene glycol, minimise reduction in liquid, maintain or cut the dwell time and/or size of the reactor.
