FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: metal detector has a search LC generator with a search inductance coil, a reference high-frequency generator, a selective-amplification unit, a two-input mixer, a beat signal amplifier and an actuating unit. The selective-amplification unit performs selection and amplification of high-frequency harmonics of the output signal of the search generator with subsequent transmission of the selected high-frequency harmonic signal to the input of the mixer. A reference frequency signal from the output of the reference high-frequency generator is transmitted to the second input of the mixer. The search generator used is a highly stable LC generator without direct coupling if its frequency setting LC circuit with the active element of the generator.

EFFECT: high sensitivity with low current consumption.
