FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method for steam-thermal oxydation of steel items involves pre-heating of the items to 250-300°C in the furnace vessel followed by heating to 550-600°C in a saturating medium for which superheated water steam is used, keeping at the heating temperature within the period ensuring production of a film of a given thickness and cooling of the items in the saturating medium to 250-300°C by a cooling medium circulating in the piping coiled on the outer side of the vessel body. The furnace for steam-thermal oxidation of steel products contains a housing with a muffle with heaters placed inside it, a vessel mounted in the furnace muffle and equipped with a lid with a pressure reducing valve, a pipeline with a cooling medium, equipped with a regulating valve and the pipeline for supply of superheated steam into the vessel. The pipeline with the cooling medium and the piping for supply of the superheated steam into the vessel are made in the form of coils wound on the outside of the vessel body.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of steam-thermal oxidation by reducing the total processing time without compromising the quality of the coatings obtained.
