FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method of measuring flow rate and forming a sample of fluid medium in a pipeline involves passing a stream of the fluid medium through an array of straightening vanes, a nozzle and a diffuser. On the area between the straightening vanes and the nozzle, a portion of the fluid medium enters a first non-flow cavity for measuring high pressure, on the area after the nozzle, a portion of the fluid medium enters a second non-flow cavity for measuring low pressure, and before the diffuser, a portion of the fluid medium enters a lateral cavity for forming a sample of the fluid medium for subsequent determination of its composition. The apparatus for measuring flow rate and forming a sample of a fluid medium has a straitening vane, a high-pressure cylindrical chamber, a nozzle, a low-pressure chamber, a sample collecting chamber and a diffuser arranged in series along a common axis. The high-pressure chamber is linked to the annular chamber for measuring high pressure which encircles it. The low-pressure chamber is linked to the annular chamber for measuring low pressure which encircles it. The sample collecting chamber is linked to an annular chamber for additional sample mixing encircling it.

EFFECT: reduced instantaneous error in formation of differential pressure, high operational accuracy and stability of measurements, possibility of forming a section of uniform composition in a gas or liquid stream, which is suitable for collecting a representative sample.
