FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: odorant storage container and supply tank are used. The odorant is fed from the storage container and from the supply tank, in which the level of odorant is controlled, into the gas line in proportion to the gas flow rate. The storage container and the supply tank are connected by a pipe, and initially, pressure in the supply tank is levelled with that in the storage container by breaking connection of the supply tank to the gas line. The odorant from the storage container is then used to fill the supply tank to a level set by level sensor and after filling with odorant, the supply tank is disconnected from the storage container and then connected to the gas line while levelling pressure in the supply tank and the gas line, after which odorant is then fed into the gas line. Pressure readings in the storage container and the supply tank and the level of odorant are recorded by a control unit which issues a command for switching and filling the supply tank and feeding.
EFFECT: high reliability and stability of operation owing to high accuracy of feeding odorant and determining its amount, simple design and servicing of the apparatus.
