SUBSTANCE: method involves recording of spectrum of intrinsic gamma radiation of fuel pellet, decomposition of radiation peak corresponding to 235U into radiation peak of 235U proper, radiation peak of fission products of 235U and peak of gamma radiation caused with braking beta radiation of 235U decomposition products, calculation of surface area of radiation peak of 235U proper, and determination of 235U concentration in fuel pellet on its basis.
EFFECT: improving the accuracy for determination of uranium 235 content and safety of the method; providing the possibility of determining the enrichment in pellets from returned fuel, as well as fuel in which secular equilibrium with U238 decomposition products is not achieved.
