FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method of controlling the linear density of fuel distribution along the length of the fuel column of uranium-filled and uranium-fuelled fuel rods is that the spectrum of the gamma radiation of fuel is registered when moving by means of the moving mechanisms of the controlled fuel rod, using spectrometric gamma radiation paths installed on the line monitoring and consisting of detection units and spectrometers installed in a computer, where processing of this recorded spectrum takes place in order to isolate and calculate the peak area of gamma radiation U235. Automatically the characteristics of linear density is calculated by the single calibration dependence obtained in the result of the ratio of the amplitude values of "pure" U235 divided by the value of the controlled at the moment enrichment of U235, and the values of the linear density itself.

EFFECT: invention allows to provide a massive control of uranium-filled, uranium-fuelled fuel rods with different fuel composition and manufacturing geometry according to a single calibration dependence.
