FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: overvoltage protection device contains a cut-off relay and a voltage detection loop. The cut-off is included into the loop serially between the AC power supply mains and the power supply unit capacity factor correction circuit. The first voltage retrieval assembly of the voltage detection loop performs retrieval of of the AC power supply mains voltage between the AC power supply mains and the cut-off relay, the voltage detection loop output connected to the cut-off relay control assembly. When a voltage surge occurs in the AC mains the cut-off relay cuts the power supply unit off the AC power supply mains. When the AC power supply mains voltage returns to the normal value the cut-off relay switches to the operating condition. The loop triggers before the bus voltage reaches a critical value; the relay can operate if only the auxiliary power supply source is operating among all the power supply unit components. The unit auxiliary power supply source is in the operating conduction.
EFFECT: improving reliability and reducing the protection system cost.
