FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is an apparatus for investigating the bottom structure of a deep-water sea shelf in a 3D model by laying seismic cables on the sea floor. The apparatus consists of two parts. The housing of each part of the apparatus is in form of two pontoons connected to each other by elements which are uniform on type. Both parts of the apparatus are connected into a single system by a cable installed by an unmanned underwater vehicle. The apparatus is delivered and installed at an operation point by a multifunctional underwater station and is kept in the working position by an anchor system. Seismic cables of the apparatus are laid on the sea floor also by the multifunctional underwater station using stabilisers whose position at the final point is fixed by an anchor.
EFFECT: high accuracy of exploration.
