FIELD: ecology.

SUBSTANCE: method of biological monitoring includes placement of an animal with a sensor of its physiological activity in a monitored medium, its lighting in compliance with a daily cycle of day and night alternation, generation of an electric signal of tested animal physiological activity by the sensor, its amplification and analog-to-digital conversion of its instantaneous values, definition of a statistic characteristic of electric signal parameter value selection, its comparison with a threshold value and generation of an environmental hazard signal based on the comparison result. The method also includes definition of values of time moments of tested animal physiological activity variances in compliance with the daily cycle of day and night alternation, definition of modules of differences of current and previously received values of the specified time moments, and making a decision on replacement of the tested animal, if the produced module exceeds the difference of the threshold value. The system comprises a computer, a sensor of physiological activity of a tested animal, an amplifier, an analog-to-digital converter and a lamp installed as capable of illuminating the tested animal and connected to a PC outlet with the possibility of its connection and disconnection.

EFFECT: reduced probability of a false alarm and letting through a signal of environmental hazard.
