FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to diagnostic technique for septic complications in a human or other animals suffering a multiple trauma wherein said patients have no traumatic cerebral injury. Enzyme immunoassay is used to determine the level of C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) or a C-type natriuretic peptide precursor (NT-proCNP). If the CNP or NT-proCNP level is increased as compared with the normal levels specific for the given patient, then the given patient is stated to suffer from septic complications or being at risk of developing septic complications.
EFFECT: improved diagnostic accuracy.
