FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: in a device, which has a magnetic conductor, exciting coils, poles, central bushings, an acceleration chamber, a target lying in the acceleration chamber and having dimensions smaller than the cross-sectional dimensions of the beam which irradiates the target, and mounted on a holder, the holder is made from separate carbon fibre, and the target and the holder lie in a volume within which electrons are accelerated. The device has a ratio of magnetic flux density in the central bushings to magnetic flux density in the interpolar space which varies over the acceleration cycle. A collimator and a cleaning magnet are placed opposite the exit window of radiation from the acceleration chamber. The exciting coils can be powered by current with low power of harmonics with a frequency close to natural frequency of mechanical oscillations of the target on the holder, the magnetic conductor, poles, central bushings, exciting coils and the acceleration chamber.
EFFECT: high output of deceleration radiation with a small focal spot and ratio thereof to output of spurious radiation.
