FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical engineering and material science and can be used to produce mullite-based ceramic materials. The method of producing mullite involves mixing a natural aluminosilicate compound and an aluminium-containing compound, mechanical activation of the obtained mixture, which involves treatment of the mixture in a flow-type centrifugal mill with a mechanical load of grinding bodies which corresponds to acceleration of not less than 20 g, followed by heat treatment. The natural aluminosilicate material used is aluminosilicate of the formula Al2O3·SiO2, and the aluminium-containing compound is technical alumina, with the following ratio of components in wt %: natural aluminosilicate Al2O3·SiO2 -62-72; technical alumina - the balance.
EFFECT: low consumption of alumina and synthesis temperature.
