SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises several stages. Downhole pump unit comprises interconnected downhole pump and its drive motor located in borehole, and motor controller arranged at borehole surface and connected with motor by three-phase power cable. Aforesaid stages comprise controlling downhole pump drive motor current operating parameter, limiting value is generated proceeding from motor operating parameters registered in previous cycles to compare current magnitude with said previous magnitude to detect gas lock in pump unit. Then, gas lock is destructed. Then, define motor rpm is maintained for preset wait state with first preset duration designed to facilitate separation of fluid from gas above the pump. Now, pump rpm is decreased to preset magnitude of flushing parameter for flushing cycle duration of second preset duration so that fluid located above the pump flows downward through the pump to wash off whatever entrapped gas to recover pump previous rpm.
EFFECT: automatic detection and destruction.
