FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: first, vacuum-plasma application is performed in reaction gas environment for lower layer of nitride or carbonitride of titanium, molybdenum and chrome compound at their component ratio, wt %: titanium 85.0-90.0, molybdenum 2.0-3.0, chrome 8.0-12.0. After that, intermediate layer of nitride or carbonitride of titanium, molybdenum and chrome compound is applied at the following component ratio, wt %: titanium 82.5-88.0, molybdenum 4.0-5.5, chrome 8.0-12.0. After that, upper layer of nitride or carbonitride of titanium and molybdenum compound is applied at the following component ratio, wt %: titanium 95.75-97.0, and molybdenum 3.0-4.25. Application of coating layers is performed with three cathodes horizontally located in one plane; the first and the second of the above cathodes are made from titanium and molybdenum and located opposite to each other, and the third cathode is made from titanium and chrome and located between them; at that, lower layer is applied using the first and the third cathodes; intermediate layer is applied using the second and the third cathodes, and upper layer is applied using the first and the second cathodes.
EFFECT: improving operability of cutting tool.
