FIELD: information technologies.

SUBSTANCE: method and system are proposed for initial detection of a network by the first device, to which the second device assists. Instead of scanning one or several frequency bands to detect information on a local wireless network the first device may send a request for information on a local wireless network along a secondary communication interface (i.e. a communication interface not connected with that wireless network, for which information is sought). The second device, which could earlier receive requested information on a network (for instance, it could have been connected already or communicated along this wireless network), may respond by sending requested information on a wireless network to the first device. The first device, upon receipt of information on a wireless network along its secondary communication interface, may use it to receive a communication service from a wireless network along a primary communication interface (i.e. different from the secondary communication interface).

EFFECT: accelerated process of access unit detection.
