FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method involves cycle of two or three melting processes. Each melting process consists of pouring to basic-oxygen converter of vanadium cast iron, its blowing with oxygen till carbon content is 2.5-3.5%, additive of cooling oxidiser and tapping through the taphole of semi-finished metal product to the ladle after melt blowing so that slag remains in the converter. During the first melting operations of the cycle the semi-finished metal product pouring to the ladle is stopped till visual slag traces appear in the metal flow. Pouring of semi-finished metal product of the last melting process of the cycle is performed completely with penetration into mirror of melt in the ladle of furnace slag.
EFFECT: increasing vanadium removal from cast iron to slag.
