FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: according to the method, from the moment of appearance to the moment of disappearance of the first current surge of short circuit on transformer buses, time is measured, this time is compared with time of delays of protections actuation in all sectionalising circuit breakers (SCB) of a transformer substation, and if the measured time is equal to the time of delay of protection actuation of one of SCB, the failed circuit breaker is detected, then from the moment of short circuit current disconnection, time is counted, equal to the time of delay of automatic re-closing of this circuit breaker plus time of its protection actuation delay with acceleration, and if at the moment of expiration of the time of automatic re-closing delay of the disconnected circuit-breaker, the second surface of the short-circuit current appears, and at the moment of expiration of time of protection actuation delay with acceleration it disappears, then the failed automatic re-closing is detected in this SCB, as well as the damaged line of the transformer substation.

EFFECT: expansion of functional capabilities of the method by receiving information on detection of a damaged line of a transformer substation in case of failed automatic re-closing of a sectionalising circuit breaker installed in this line.
