SUBSTANCE: result is achieved by realising a mechanism which enables a media gateway controller (MGC) to control a media gateway (MG). The present invention provides a method, an apparatus and a system for processing tone in a media stream. The method involves steps for: receiving, by a MG, a command issued by a MGC which carries a property parameter for controlling removal of the tone in the media stream; and removing or reserving, by the MG, the tone in the media stream according to the property parameter.
EFFECT: saving processing resources and making the correct decision with respect to making a call.
