GENERATOR OF TAGGED NEUTRONS Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC G01N23/222 G01V5/10

Abstract RU 2467317 C1

FIELD: measurement equipment.

SUBSTANCE: application: to survey or analyse materials with radiation methods measuring secondary emission with application of neutrons. The invention concept is as follows: it consists in the fact that a generator of tagged neutrons comprises a tight body, where the following components are installed - a source of ions, a source of gaseous deuterium and tritium, a system of accelerating and focusing electrodes, a tritium target, a deuteron absorber and a multi-channel α-detector, at the same time the tritium target is equipped with a cooling unit, which is joined in the place of thermal contact outside the vacuum volume of the generator, the accelerating electrode is made in the form of a cylinder, inside of which there is a circular grid, from one ring or more concentric rings fixed near the inlet edge of the accelerating electrode, in the accelerating electrode in direction of flight of α-particles and neutrons there are two holes, a high voltage isolator surrounded with a protective screen installed between the accelerating and focusing electrodes.

EFFECT: possibility to reduce a minimum recorded mass of a hidden substance, improved conditions of hidden substances identification, in particular, higher probability of hazardous substances identification and reduced probability of false alarms, higher accuracy of aiming a tagged neutron beam at a surveyed object.
