METHOD FOR AUTOMATIC CONTROL OF SOUNDING OF SOUNDING ELEMENT OF PERCUSSION MUSICAL INSTRUMENT, PRIMARILY BELL, AND SYSTEM FOR REALISING SAID METHOD Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC G10K1/00

Abstract RU 2467405 C1

FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to percussion musical instruments, primarily bells (metallic, ceramic, glass), used in carillons, bell-towers and orchestras, as well as bills, orchestra tubular bells, rods etc, and instruments having a sounding element, for example, a housing. The method involves excitation of vibrations of the sounding element through the impact of a main head or a head with a damping strap, as well as through electromagnetic action on the sounding element at its characteristic resonance frequency (frequencies), wherein if it is necessary to obtain sound of the sounding element for a time τs which is shorter than the damping time of natural vibrations of the sounding element, the head strikes the sounding element at the instruction of a control device; if it is necessary to obtain sound of the sounding element for a time τs greater than the damping time of natural vibrations of the sounding element, vibrations of the sounding element are excited at the instruction of the control device through electromagnetic action at the resonance frequency (frequencies); if it is necessary to obtain the fundamental note of the sounding element, the main head strikes at the instruction of the control device; if it is necessary to obtain a long-sounding tone (undertone), the head with damping strap strikes at the instruction of the control device, and vibrations of the sounding element are damped at the instruction of controlling damping after a time τs from the moment of exciting vibrations in the sounding element.

EFFECT: reduced phenomenon of sound distortion of a separate element or group of elements due to regulation of the duration of sounding (with the expected (calculated) duration of sounding), and giving the user more options for managing musical compositions.
