FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: heat insulator represents mat or board from inorganic fiber impregnated with colloid inorganic oxide, compacted and dried. Said oxide is combined with c gelling agent. Note here that oxide composition includes colloid silica, gelling agent in amount of about 0.01 to 10 wt % of inorganic salt or acid, and about 0.01 to 10 wt % of acid and water in amount sufficient for dissolution of gelling agent, is required in amount sufficient for dissolution of up to 70 wt % of composition weight. Isolator has working temperature of about 1000°C and retains integrity at said temperature, density exceeding 700 kg/cm3, and compression strength about 6800 kPa (70 kgf/cm2).
EFFECT: decreased heat conductivity at higher density.
