FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal-ceramic composite material and a method of producing the composite material or a component therefrom and can be used to make a brake pad, a friction element or a sealing element. At the first step, a porous ceramic workpiece is made from ceramic starting mass containing a basic ceramic component in form of an oxide and additional ceramic component. At the second step, the porous ceramic workpiece is saturated with molten metal. The additional ceramic component, with is reactive with respect to the basic component, contains Cu2O and at the first step and/or the second step reacts at least partially with the basic ceramic component. Content of the additional component in the ceramic starting mass is equal to 0.05-30 wt %. The molten metal used is copper or copper alloy.
EFFECT: high strength and heat conductivity of the component made from the composite material.
