FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of determining wettability of porous materials involves placing a sample of porous material into a calorimeter cell and facilitating contact between the sample and the wetting liquid. Measurement results are constantly recorded based on thermal effect from squeezing the liquid. The limiting wetting angle of pores filled with the liquid is calculated. Pressure in the cell with the sample is increased until all pores in the sample are filled with the liquid and then reduced to the initial pressure while constantly recording thermal flux into the cell. This enables, based on measurement results based on thermal effect from squeezing the liquid, to calculate the limiting wetting angle of pores filled with the liquid, as well as pores free from the liquid.
EFFECT: possibility of analysing wettability of porous samples by determining the limiting wetting angle for pores of different diameter with high accuracy.
