FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: white phosphorus undergoes electrochemical reduction, which is characterised by that a solution of white phosphorus undergoes electrolysis in a mixture of infinitely miscible organic solvents, the first of which is selected from a group of alcohols or diol monoethers, capable of dissolving white phosphorus and facilitating dissociation of anhydrous acid additive which gives the system electroconductivity, and the second is selected from benzene, chlorobenzene, toluene, 1-methylnaphthalene, 1-chloronaphthalene, and increases solubility of white phosphorus.
EFFECT: efficient and less fire-hazardous method of producing phosphine.
