FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of calibrating a pulsed pressure sensor, which is based on comparing readings of the calibrated sensor with the pressure amplitude of the shock wave acting on it. According to the present method, action is achieved via a spherical shock wave directed at a normal to the detecting element of the sensor and generated by laser-induced breakdown of air. Amplitude of the shock wave is calculated analytically.
EFFECT: high energy efficiency and output of the calibration process.
