FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: what is involved is selective multilevel single-step oil chemoembolisation of upper, medium and low rectal arteries. The rectal arteries are catheterised from one puncture approach through a common femoral artery. It is followed by superselective angiography of the arteries extended to the tumour and the rectum from different vascular circulations. Then the emulsion containing an anticancer chemopreparation, a non-ionic contrast and a fat-soluble contrast causing temporary vascular embolism is slowly introduced. Fatty embolisation by the emulsion may be added by the introduction of non-lysing emboli.
EFFECT: method enables adequate and safe treatment and reduced risk of postoperative complications.
