FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to oncology and surgery, namely, to coloproctology and medical radiology. Before embolization, angiography of the inferior mesenteric artery territory is performed, and an external iliac artery is catheterized with right-sided femoral access. Inferior mesenteric artery is catheterized through the introducer with a diagnostic catheter. Using a microcatheter and a microconductor, the superior rectal artery is selectively catheterized and embolized by using particles of the lysing hemostatic sponge.
EFFECT: method enables minimizing rectal hemorrhages, recovering normal rectal mucosa, recovering hemoglobin of the patient's blood to numbers that do not require hemotransfusion correction, as well as improving the patient's quality of life by reducing the pain syndrome accompanying defecation.
