FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of welding in protective gas by infusible electrode and magnet-controlled arc. Current is fed via conductor with its contacts moving over article surface on the side facing welding torch and in synchronism with it. During welding, points of current connection to article are intermittently and multiply changed, arc being deflected under action of its own magnetic field. Arc is held in every deflected position, while when its moves between its extreme positions, standby mode is set up. Operating and standby currents are controlled independently. Welding current is controlled on its flowing through each point of its feed to the article, while minimum current is set to be no less than: I=4.466·h-0.4·h2+0.0147·h3-0.225·10-3·h4+1.236·10-6·h5, where h is distance from current feed point to electrode axis, mm. Frequency of current switching between separate feed points may not exceed 4 Hz. Varying aforesaid distance from 0 to 100 mm allows varying angle of arc deflection from electrode axis. When current flows through every current feed point, current value may be constant in time or vary periodically in the form of pulses.
EFFECT: higher quality and stability of welded joint.
