SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical engineering, in particular, to a device for removal of ice from wires of overhead power transmission lines, and comprises a body, which is arranged as capable of its installation onto a wire, and is also equipped with facilities for ice displacement and removal. The displacement facility is arranged in the form of a chamber filled with calcium carbide with the possibility of providing contact with moistened ice available on a wire. To reduce friction forces between elements of the device and an iced wire a gas lubricant is created due to acetylene, which is produced in case of chemical reaction as a result of carbide interaction with water. To create a device displacement force, a reactive force is used, which has occurred from acetylene ignition. When ice is removed from a wire, heat is used, which is released as a result of chemical reaction and acetylene burning. Besides, for ice moistening, calcium carbide is mixed with a chemical reagent, which reduces ice melting temperature. To ignite acetylene, there is an igniting device installed in the rear part of the body. To stop the device, end switches are installed in the front part with contact to a wire suspension, and such switches provide for actuation of a mechanical brake.

EFFECT: improved reliability of device operation in conditions of vibrations occurring during device operation, and also its reliability, are the technical result of the invention.
