NASAL RINSING SYSTEMS AND METHODS Russian patent published in 2013 - IPC A61H35/04 A61M31/00

Abstract RU 2471472 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely douching and rinsing methods and devices for nasal cavity and relevant anatomic openings. A manual nasal rinsing system comprises a rinsing substance source, a receiving cavity, a nasal interface for rinsing substance supply into user's nostrils, a vacuum source for generating relative vacuum in the receiving cavity, a fluid canal, a controller and a switch arranged in the controller. The nasal interface is arranged relatively to the rinsing substance source so that the rinsing substance free flows towards to the nasal interface. The vacuum source is integrated in said manual system. The fluid canal connects the rinsing substance source with the receiving cavity through the nasal interface and the user's nasal cavity. The switch is designed for selective control of the vacuum source and the rinsing substance flowing through the fluid canal from the rinsing substance source into the receiving cavity. The receiving substance source, the receiving cavity and the fluid canal are completely mounted in said manual system. A method for nasal rinsing involves creating a tight contact of user's nostrils with the manual system containing the fluid canal connected with the saline source and the receiving cavity, supply of relative vacuum into the receiving cavity with a mechanised suction source, also integrated in the manual system and saline injection from said source into said canal and the nasal cavity. Saline flows through nostrils and around a posterior border of nasal septum and rinses the nasal cavity. The canal, the source and the cavity are completely mounted in said manual system.

EFFECT: invention is accessible manual system which may perform effective nasal rinsing with smoothly regulated fluid supply, ensuring rinsing substance flow through the nasal cavity due to weak mechanised absorption, collecting outflow rinsing flow by a method facilitating its fast and easy removal, and may be easily adapted to noses of various parameters.
