FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of forming smoke screens and specifically to aerosol-forming compositions used as a smoke-forming material for ammunition, during combustion of which a masking aerosol cloud forms in the atmosphere. The aerosol-forming composition contains red phosphorus powder whose particles are coated with a phlegmatising agent, and a process additive - pyrotechnic graphite. The phlegmatising agent is zinc oxide and the additional process additive is liquid chlorinated paraffin wax, with the following ratio of components, wt %: red phosphorus 90-94, zinc oxide 3-4, pyrotechnic graphite 2-3, liquid chlorinated paraffin wax 1-3.

EFFECT: engineering solution enabled to phlegmatise red phosphorus powder which is highly sensitive to mechanical action by mixing with nontoxic and readily available substances, which further facilitate aerosol-formation during combustion of the disclosed pyrotechnic composition.
