FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: rail head profile formation method consists in the fact that energy beam or jet hydro-abrasive liquid, which is supplied under high pressure, is used as a tool. Tool is oriented at an angle relative to rail symmetry axis, at an angle to supply direction and at an angle to axis of oscillating motion of the tool. After that, shaping of rail head profile is performed with the tool, which is provided with oscillating motion relative to the specified axis for subsequent discrete removal of an allowance. The tool at each point of rail head profile lies in the plane that is tangent to the head profile at that point. Amplitude of oscillating motion is determined with a sum angle, contact of tool and processed surface.
EFFECT: improvement of the quality of processed surface, formation of required physical and mechanical properties of surface layer and increase in efficiency is provided.
