FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing of automotive tires comprising wire-cord belt and carcass from metal or textile cord. Proposed method comprises cutting tire into several parts in circumferential direction by cutter composed of mandrel and circular cutter. Said cutter is composed of driven support roller with one or two annular grooves and one or two circular blades arranged opposite appropriate annular grooves in support roller. Tire is fitted on said support roller. One or two circular blades are fed from outside in running surface area toward tire and clamped by required force. With drive support roller revolved, tire is cut in equatorial direction into two ring-like halves or three ring-like parts. Roller drive is switched off to drive circular blades off and to repeat operation as required. Halves thus cut are piled so that all of them have their convex side surfaces face one side and fitted on mandrel of another cutter for cutting purposes.
EFFECT: higher efficiency.
